He worked as a Tow Truck Driver for Dave’s Towing Service.

He was married to Myrtle L. James for 63 years.

He was a faithful member of Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church. Deacon Nathaniel James was very active in the community and his church.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Myrtle L. James; Two children: Gloria (Ronald) Bagley of Ocala, FL, Nadeen (Bernard) Gant of St. Petersburg, FL; Eleven grandchildren: Terry Smith, Jr., Jayson Smith, Erica Reese, Jerry(Shayla) Steele, Katrina(Emmanuel) Chisolm, Leonard(Lilyian) Steele, Olan Tucker, Alicia Oliver, Milton James, Ralth James, and Lewanda (Anthony) Smith; one brother: Raymond (Vangela) Wheeler; god-brother: Dec. Amos Strickland; two god-children: Otis and Mary Johnson; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Jackson and Annie Lee Thompson; special friends: Doug and Melinda Monteith and a host of great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

Visitation for Deacon Nathaniel James will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 12 Noon until 6 PM at Summers Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00am at Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church, 8792 NW 38th Ave Rd. Ocala, Florida 34482,
