Marianne Kimball Taylor, of Gloucester, peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 24, 1940, in North Reading, MA. Marianne graduated from Gloucester High School in 1958. After college and starting her family, she settled back in Gloucester in the early seventies. Here she was a Head Start teacher and special needs tutor. She retired from National Marine Fisheries after seventeen years as a Legal Instrument Examiner.
‘Jaum’, to those who knew her, was best known for her costumes, her party planning, her love of yard sales, and shopping at Second Glance. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed traveling with her friends. She would tell you several of the most meaningful moments of her life included: the birth of her grandson, Jacob; finding her birth family after 50 years; receiving her son, Vermin’s kidney; and the day her daughter, Debora, graduated from nursing school.
Marianne is survived by her three children, Vermin and his wife Becky, David and his wife Victoria, and Debora and her companion Sandra LoGrande; grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, and Morgan; brothers and sisters, Phil, Sylvia, Sharon, and Glenn, and their spouses; nieces and nephews, Daniel, Richard, Robert, Ann, Benjamin, Kathyrn, and their families; a very special Aunt Emily, who brought her into the world; and all the friends who loved her as a second mother.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph Sr. and Eleanor, her brothers, Ralph and Newton, her Aunt, Virginia, her uncle, Phil, and her cousin, Carol, her niece, Rebecca, and her in-laws, John and Charlotte.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. Marianne will be laid to rest alongside her parents and brother in North Reading. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marianne’s name to the Open Door, 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Kidney Transplant Program, Transport Surgery, 15 Francis St., Suite PBB215, Boston, MA 02115.
