Mrs.Opal Bagley Hicks, 87, of Rome, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Hicks was born on March 5, 1930, in Resaca, GA. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Harvey Bagley and the late Jeanette Borders Bagley. She was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church since 1964. She had served in leadership in Sunday School, WMU, and Young at Heart Seniors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John C. Hicks and her sister, Barbara Bagley Clark of Fairmount, GA.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Patricia and Bobby Brewer of Rome, Cal and Gina Hicks of Rome, and David and Lynne Hicks of Lindale; her grandchildren, Stephanie Stewart (Tracy) of Rome, Rebecca Arendt of Durham, NC, Jonathan Brewer (Aaron Cornelison) of Aurora, CO, Karlee Hicks (Aaron Morris) of Rome and Kara Greene (Jamie) of Rome; her great-grandchildren, Macy Rittenhouse, Morgan Stewart (Alena Holmes), Christian Arendt, Hanna Arendt, Seth Arendt and Ben Hicks-Morris; her step-grandchildren, Isaac Greene and Maddy Greene; and her great-great-grandchildren, Addison Rittenhouse, Alivia Stewart and Wesley Stewart.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 1:00 pm at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church with Reverend Skip Myers and Reverend Max Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the service hour at the church.
