She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Marvin Fred and Mabel Houchins Underwood.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Dana enjoyed being a homemaker, and spending time with her family. She loved to go to yard sales and find treasures, eating out, watching TV and talking on the phone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac “Sam” Kennedy; grandson, Gavin Rayn Justice; sisters, Janet Ann Bullion, Geraldine Roberts; brothers, Tommy Blankenship, Donald Blankenship and Marvin Underwood, Jr.

Funeral services for Dana J. Kennedy will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. J.C. Johnson and Walter Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Dustin Carty, D.J. Justice, Tim Greene, David Short, Tommy Bullion, and Doug Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gerald Bullion, Bud Jackson, Soctt Kennedy, Samuel Goodmen, and Ray Salyers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday evening at the funeral home.
