Beverly I. Powell, 87, Marion, went to be with the Lord in her home at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. She was born in Marion on December 22, 1929, to the late John and Helen (Adams) Huston. Beverly married Richard L. Powell on October 28, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Beverly was a graduate of Jonesboro High School. She attended First Friends Church in Marion and was a member of Delta-Theta-Tau Sorority for 22 years, holding several offices. Beverly also volunteered at the VA Medical Center for seven years. She loved sewing and working in her flower beds. She will be remembered for the great mom that she was to her children and for how much she loved her grandkids and family.
She is survived by her children, Tamara (Rick) Yanis, Marion, and Brad (Letha) Powell, Converse; grandchildren, Dacia (Bill) Overbey, Alexis (Rich) Earnest, Zachary (fiancé Alyssa Darga) Powell, Elijah Powell, Jonah Powell, Christy Watson, and Seth (Holly) Powell; great-grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Wall, Daryen Carothers, Alyssa Earnest, Jett Earnest, Brynlee Earnest, Brinley Powell, and Lawson Powell; great-great-grandchildren, Lily Curtis and Grant Curtis; brother, Marion Huston, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David Powell; brothers, Victor, Robert, and Lionel Huston; and sisters, Donna Adamson and Carmen Sommers.
The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following visitation, Beverly's funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Nagell officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
