Rebecca ALLEN is the daughter of Noah ALLEN and Jane SEARCH. Noah ALLEN came to Jersey Ridge, Falls Twp., Muskingum County, Ohio in 1803 and bought a tract of land from Mary DRAKE and her husband Ebenezer DRAKE. He brought his family and belongings to Jersey Ridge in 1807. William and Rebecca grew up together in Ohio, being both families were from New Jersey.

Rebecca married William NORMAN SR on November 13, 1822 in Muskingum County, Ohio. William is the son of Oliver NORMAN.

REBECCA is mentioned in her sons, JOSEPH NORMAN, Biographical Sketch, in the book: Past & Present of Muskingum Co., Ohio, by J Hope Sutor.
WILLIAM NORMAN SR was born in Sussex County, New Jersey, in 1791. In 1816, he came to Ohio with his father OLIVER, and settled in Hopewell Township, Muskingum County, when it was largely a wild and unimproved region. WILLIAM became a farmer and aided in the arduous task of developing new land but his resolute spirit and unconquerable determination enabled him to overcome all the difficulties and obstacles in his path, and to work his way steadily upward to success. He was united in marriage to Miss REBECCA ALLEN, also a native of New Jersey and a daughter of NOAH ALLEN, who came to Muskingum County in 1807 and here followed the occupation of farming. WILLIAM NORMAN reached the advanced age of eighty-seven years, passing away in 1878. He therefore witnessed much of the growth and progress of this section of the state and at all times bore his full share in the work of improvement. In his family were six children.
1. JOSEPH NORMAN 1825-1908 married 1st, Ann WILLIAMS, d/o Elijah WILLIAMS & Phoebe MARTIN, and they had 5 children; Elsie J CHRISTMAN, Adeline SNYDER, Willard F., William W., and Edward E. NORMAN. He worked for the Dillon Furnace and Forge Iron Foundry at the falls of the Licking River, sometimes called Yelptown, on account of almost everyone had a dog. He married CAROLINE HAVENS on January 5, 1851, in Muskingum County, Ohio. CAROLINE was the daughter of CHARLES CALVIN HAVENS, Charles and his brother Samuel HAVENS, who also settled in Ohio, were the sons of Thomas HAVENS & Mary Polly CHAMBERLAIN, & EUNICE SHELDON was Caroline’s mother all of New Jersey. CAROLINE was born August 10, 1830 in New Jersey and came to Falls Twp., Muskingum County, Ohio in a covered wagon over the mountains when she was seven years old. WILLIAM & CAROLINE kept up housekeeping in her father’s old log cabin below the falls, her father had built a new one, and to them were born 5 boys and 1 girl. JOSEPH WARREN, ALBERT DOMINICK, FRANCIS MARION (my g-great grandfather), IMRI, CHARLES & WILHELMINE. WILLIAM died August 20, 1861. Soon afterwards his 2 youngest, Charles & Wilhelmine passed also in 1864. Times were hard and the Civil War was going on, both of WILLIAMS brothers, JOSEPH & DAVID were serving in the war. Caroline worked to raise her son’s. The boys worked amongst the farmers.
