Obituary

HENRY K. MILES, 93, of Mount Royal, passed away at his daughter's home in Winter Park Saturday morning September 16th after a brief illness.

He was born in Clarksburg, Maryland and served his country with the US Navy during WW II. He taught and coached at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland his entire career. Henry played baseball as a child; it became his passion. He played varsity baseball at R.M.H.S., for the Navy at Mayport and semi-pro for Minnesota – Brainerd Braves. Some of the awards he received include: 1966 Baltimore Orioles Maryland Coach of the Year; 1970 Maryland Award for Outstanding Coach Service: In 1992 he was inducted into Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches and in 2015, R.M.H.S.'s Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, in 2012.

He is survived by his children, Karen Miles (Daniel) Miller of Winter Park, Kim (Steve) McLaughlin of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, Kendall (John) Lupari of Germantown, Maryland, Kate Miles of Deland, Florida and Kent Miles of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He was proud to be 'Pop Pop' to 21 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.

His family will welcome guests at the funeral home for a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, October 14th from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M.. The ashes of Mr. and Mrs. Miles will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 28th at 9:30 A.M. at Monocacy Cemetery in Beallsville, Maryland with military honors.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Frank & Biggs Funeral Home, Crescent City, Florida.
