Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Jean Melton 68 will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday August 30 2004 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Melton died Friday August 27 2004 at her home. She was born in Hardeman County daughter of the late James Ivy and Alice Thornton Cox and was educated in the local schools. Mrs. Melton was a retired employee of Jackson Poultry Company. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her husband James Harold Melton on November 2 2003 and a daughter Sherry Lynn Gregory Melton. Survivors include a daughter Theresa Ann and husband Larry Grimes of Bethel Springs TN; a son James Davis Melton of Jackson; five sisters Frances Jines of Toone TN Elizabeth Clark of Mifflin TN Annie Bell Carver of Parsons TN Virginia King of Bolivar TN and Peggy Vires also of Parsons TN; two brothers James A. "Buddy" Cox of Blue Goose TN and Kenneth Cox of Scotts Hill TN; three grandchildren Larry Shane Grimes Aerica Ruth Martin and Regina Michelle Rattinger and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers to serve are Danny Stout Rex Key Wayne Clark Donald Clark Tommy Powell and Terry Vires.
