Mary C. (nee Blandford) Jay, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes (complications from pneumonia).

She was born Jan. 30, 1932, in St. Louis, daughter of Leslie M. and Anna F. Ebelmesser Blandford.

She married Howard W. Jay on OCT 28, 1958 in St. Louis.

Mrs. Jay graduated from St. Margaret’s High School in 1950 and worked at McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis before moving to Waterloo in 1960.

She worked at several John Deere & Co. facilities in the Waterloo area before retiring after 24 years of employment.

She was a member of St. Edwards parish for 57 years.

Survivors include: her daughter, Susan M. Jay, USN of San Diego; sister in law, Mary V. Goecke of Marshalltown.

Preceded in death by: her husband, Howard W. Jay; a brother, George D. Blandford; a sister, Helen L. Schmidt; a brother in law, Otto Schmidt; three sisters in law, Leora Blandford, Ruth Ann Anderson, and Reba Bradbury.

A memorial mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Friendship Village Chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at our West Ridgeway location, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
