Tom Cole was a racing driver who raced on an American driving license but he was actually British at the time of his death. He had never acquired American citizenship when he died in the 1953 Le Mans 24hr race. He had finished 3rd in the 1950 running of the famous race. He had been a moderately succesful driver in the late 40's and early 50's. He was co driving a Ferrari 340MM with Luigi Chinetti when he crashed at Maison Blanche and died instantly. He is buried in the Le Mans West Cemetery very close to the War Graves.
