Eric Bertram Ridgway enlisted with his brother, 1439 Corporal Hugh Kelly Ridgway, 9th Light Horse Regiment, returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

Eric was accidently wounded in the abdomen by the discharge of a mate's rifle. His brother Hugh was sitting beside him at the time and helped dress the wound and carry him to aid. Eric died 10 days later in a Casualty Clearing Station.

His sister, Doris Alice Ridgway was a nurse in the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) and left South Australia for Western Australia during late 1918 on a train. She contracted Spanish influenza during the journey and died in a quarantine station at Woodman's Point in Western Australia, 6 January 1919.
