Helen Tucker Reid passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017 in De Kalb, Texas. She was 83. She was born March 15,1934 in New Boston, Texas to William E. and Mable Chisum.

She was a member of the Siloam Quilters Club, Golden Oldies Club, an active member of Siloam Baptist Church and participated in the Operation Christmas Child ministry. Helen was a hairdresser and owner of several small businesses. She loved to fish, quilt and travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Jerrel L. Tucker and Marvin C. Reid; one son, Jerrel Wayne Tucker; one sister, Betty Joyce Chisum; and one brother, William P. Chisum.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law,Sherry and Alton Holcombe of De Kalb, Texas and Ouida and Phil Oglesby of McKinney, Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Muarl and Buck Lewis of De Kalb, Texas, Lois Peek of Avery, Texas and Brenda and Joe Doty of El Dorado, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Chisum of De Kalb, Texas; six grandchildren, David and Samantha Holcombe, Katie and Garrett Lee, JohnPaul and Siska Oglesby, Joshua Glass, Grace Oglesby and Hope Oglesby; one great grandchild, Logan Holcombe; and numerous other family and friends.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2017 at Siloam Baptist Church in Simms, Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home with Rev. James Ross, Robby Bates and Deb Vick officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
