Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home with the Revs. Eddie Stillwell, Charles Dean and Melissa Lamm officiating. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were John David Sweney, Charles Ashley Lamm, Ken Johnson, Steve Alexander, Steven Alexander and Eric Dean.
A native of Swain County, she had lived in Jackson County most of her life. She was an avid reader and member of Jarrett Memorial Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late James David and Ellen Mills Shuler.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Hensley, who died in 1985; and two grandsons.
Surviving are two daughters, Frankie Ammons of Waynesville and Sara Allison of Sylva; four sons, Paul Hensley and Harold Hensley, both of Sylva, and James "Jim" Hensley and Walter Joe Hensley, both of Waynesville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren
