Rev. D.C. McAtee, age 78, died March 7, at Baptist Mem. Hosp. Central in Memphis. Rev. McAtee, a retired Baptist minister, was the son of the late John David and Anna Coulter McAtee. He graduated from Quachita Baptist University and Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored 40 years, including Southern Baptist Churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Mississippi, before being employed by the Student Dept. of Arkansas Baptist State Convention. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Forrest City. He had twice served as Vice President of the Arkansas State Convention, twice as President of Arkansas Baptist Training Union Convention, and twice as President of the Fellowship of Retired Workers in Arkansas of Southern Baptist Churches, Institutions, and Agencies. He was also vice President of the Christian Civic Foundation of Arkansas, and was on the Baptist Executive Boards for Arkansas and Alabama. He was a member of the Baptist Hospitals Corp. of Arkansas, and had served as president of the Kiwanis club of Forrest City and as Lt. Governor of the Mo-Ark District of Kiwanis. He is listed in the Who's Who in the Protestant Clergy and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Survivors include his wife, Clyta Agee McAtee of Forrest City, Ark.; a daughter, Marilyn McVeigh of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Lois Tollette of Starkville,Miss., and Maridai Petty of Arlington, Texas; three brothers, M. E. McAtee of Houston, Harry McAtee of Nashville, Ark., and John McAtee of Midland, Texs; and two grandchildren. Services at the First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis.
