James (Jay) Henry Mashburn, age 86, passed away on Good Friday, March 25, 2016 at his home in Idabel. He was a man of God who was ready to see his heavenly Father. He was born on September 12, 1929 in Wagoner County, Oklahoma, the son of Matthew and Lacey (Hargrove) Mashburn.

Jay married Mavis (Thomas) Mashburn on August 28, 1948.

Jay was a dedicated farmer by trade, farming in many areas in Oklahoma and settling in Idabel in 1975. Jay retired from farming in Idabel, Oklahoma in 1996, finishing with his best crop ever. Jay was a passionate member of the Bypass Church of Christ in Idabel. Jay served as a deacon, elder, Bible school teacher, small group leader, prison minister, and visitation minister. Jay enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids who most affectionately called him Papa. Jay enjoyed playing golf with his friends and talking to everyone he came in contact with about God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mavis Mashburn; a brother, and many other family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Marsha and Terry Techau of Cowetta OK., Jim and Barbara Mashburn of Norman, OK, Dr.LeAnna (Hale) and Col. Ret. Michael Ball of Spring Branch,TX, Jeff and Cindy Mashburn of Katy TX, and Sandra and David Ritchie of Idabel, OK.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
