William Efton Lay, 64, of Bushland died Monday, October 2, 2017. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm today at Trinity Fellowship Church- Student Ministries Building, 5000 Hollywood Rd, with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

William was born September 4, 1953 in Sterling, Colo. to Kathleen and James Lay. He graduated from Canadian High School in 1978.

He married Vickie Boydston on June 16, 1978 in Canadian.

William worked for Urschel Ranch in Canadian from 1978-1986. He very much enjoyed his time there. He earned his degree in Biblical Theology from Christ for the Nations Bible College in Dallas in 1989. They moved to Amarillo from Dallas the same year.

William worked for the City of Amarillo for over 22 years, retiring in 2012, as Landfill Supervisor. He and Vickie have been members of Trinity Fellowship Church for 21 years, and have worked on the camera and lighting team there. William was an avid reader. He loved hanging out with his kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two nieces, Kimberly Hall, and Kimberly Lay.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Lay; a daughter, Jennifer Lay and her boyfriend Thomas Williams of Amarillo; two sons, Greg Boydston and wife Tiffanye of Allison, and Clayton Lay of Lubbock; two sisters, Karen Lay, and Janice Schafer and husband Jay all of Canadian; two brothers, John Lay and wife Sarah of Jenks, OK, and Jeff Lay and wife DeAnna of Sweetwater; seven grandchildren, Tori Coulter and husband Paden, Hannah Fraley and husband Steven, Kylee Lay, Kaylye Coffman, Savannah Garcia, Gavin Boydston, and Sa'Riya Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Gunner Coulter, Karoline Fraley, and Cayson Coulter.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
