Carrie "Zoongaabanookwe" L. Bell, 29, of Odanah, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. Carrie was born Feb. 5, 1988, in Ashland, the daughter of Christine A. Bell.

Carrie attended Ashland High School and graduated in 2006. She was a prevention specialist for the Bad River Health and Wellness Center in Odanah. She enjoyed sewing and learning about the Ojibwe language and culture. She loved spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.

Survivors include her significant other, Zachary Hartlev of Odanah; sons Biidaanakwad and Waasamowin; grandmother Judi Bell of Odanah; grandfather William Bell of Ashland; step-father Anthony "Boo" Butler of Odanah; sisters Amanda Lee of Las Vegas, Brittney Butler of Panama City, Fla., Vanessa Butler-Bell of Odanah, Sarah Butler-Bell of Odanah and Toni Butler-Bell of Odanah; aunts Kathy Schultz of Janesville, Jennifer Gifford of Janesville and Bobbi Bigboy of Odanah; and special friend Lynn (Gary) Bigboy of Odanah.

She was preceded in death by her mother Christine Bell, grandfather Robert Bigboy and uncle David Bell.

A funeral service for Carrie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at the Bad River Community Center in Odanah.

Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. on Monday at the Bad River Community Center in Odanah and continue until the hour of service on Tuesday.

Interment will take place in the Bad River Cemetery, Odanah.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen.
