On this day, April 16, 2010, Cheryl Tarpley went to be with her heavenly Lord. She was born to her beloved parents John and Dana Mowell on February 4, 1946. In 1958 the family moved from Lamesa to Midland. Mr. Mowell served thirty years in law enforcement, sixteen under Sheriff Ed Darnell. They were members of the First Baptist Church. Cheryl was a 1964 graduate of Robert E Lee High School and earned her diploma in business at Midland Commercial College. Cheryl married her loving, caring husband Jerry Lynn Tarpley, on March 19, 1966. Their life was their home and children. They spent many fun and precious times with their family and friends, and many happy times with her sisters. Cheryl spent most of her time as a homemaker. She had a great love for the flower garden, outdoors, decorating and finding a good antique. She loved and enjoyed all her dear friends she met along the way the twelve years she was involved in antiques. She took art lessons, bought and sold some of well known artist Wanda Hurley's art. Cheryl rescued many stray and abandoned animals and found good homes for many of them. She loved all animals large or small. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 44 years, two sons she loved dearly. Preceded in death by Joan Mowell Barr. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Monday, April 19, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
