Adeline Studer, 92, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Ankeny Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Adeline Jenny Penning was born on February 26, 1925, in Buffalo Center, Iowa to John and Effie (Hugo) Penning. She grew up in northern Iowa where she received her education. Following graduation, Adeline taught country school for two years. Adeline was united in marriage to Frank Gahan until he passed away in 1948. In 1949, Adeline married Leander "Lee" Studer. Adeline has been blessed with six children, Sarah, Linda, Donnie, Pip, Carol, and Patty. She was able to stay home with the children until they were grown when Adeline then took a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield where she worked for 18 years.
Adeline was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, and camping. She was very detailed and kept everything organized. Most of all, Adeline treasured making photo albums for her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who she loved deeply.
Adeline is survived by her children, Sarah (Leo) Friedrickson, Linda Studer, Donnie Studer, Pip (Bruce) Overton, Carol Johnson, and Patty (Mark) Hokel; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Larry (Carole) Penning and Barb Wohlford. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Gahan and Leander "Lee" Studer; parents, John and Effie (Hugo) Penning; and seven siblings, Harold, Ene, Ray, Joey, Bevy, Sonny, Darrell.
