DEATH OF MRS. C. W. WHITAKER

Ella Edna Carl, only daughter of Albert and Emma Mohr Carl, was born near Guernsey, Iowa, on Oct. 5, 1894, and passed away on April 12, 1931. She had attained the age of 36 years, 6 months and 7 days. She attended the rural school near her home, and later attended the school at Guernsey and still later on attended what is now the John Fletcher college at Oskaloosa.

She was united in marriage to Curtis W. Whitaker on March 29, 1916, in Des Moines. They began housekeeping on a farm near Nevada, Iowa, later moved to Des Moines.

She united with the M. E. church at Guernsey, having been converted at a camp meeting held in Victor. Later she transferred her membership to the First M. E. church of Des Moines, where it remained until her death. She was never more happy than when doing the Lord's work and was an active worker until failing health compelled her to stop.

She had been in failing health for the past 10 years and all that love and money could do was lavishly given to help her, but to no avail. She suffered intensely the last six months, but during all her suffering she complained very little and when asked about her silence she replied - "Jesus suffered so much: He never complained. Why should I?" What is the world's loss is heaven's gain.

She leaves to mourn her untimely passing her husband, her mother, two brothers, Alfred and Evan Carl, both of Des Moines, besides a large number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Victor M.E. church Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. O. E. McBride conducting the services. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
