By 1880, he was married to Nancy Dobbs and they had a 5 month old baby, William Mansel. They lived next door to his parents. Nancy was 17 years old. Her parents, Charlie and Becky Dobbs, lived nearby. Josiah married again to Janie Wesson. He died in 1941 and Janie in 1952. They are both buried at Lime Branch.
