Mr. Fred Lewis Stephens, 84, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. He was born in Lebanon on Sept. 24, 1932, a son of the now late Faye R. and Helen L (Isenhower) Stephens.
Fred was a 1952 graduate of Dover High School, where he was an outstanding high school basketball player.
On June 7, 1953, he was married to Barbara Joan Thrasher in Thorntown. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2016.
Fred had worked at Deluxe Check Printers for over 25 years and enjoyed being on the company's sports team. Prior to that, he had a route bringing raw dairy product from the farm to Polk Dairy in Indianapolis. He always had members of the community riding along with him on his milk route.
Fred also spent many years coaching little league teams in Dover. He was a devoted and proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly.
Fred was member of the Dover Christian Church.
Survivors include children, Cindy Hickson and husband, Chuck, of Lebanon, and Frank Stephens and spouse, Sam Simmons, of Cape Coral, Fla.; grandchildren, Wesley Hickson and wife, Amy, of Frankfort, Zachery Hickson and wife, Kristy - Gallatin, of Tennessee, and Brittany Hicks and husband, Bryant, of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Curtis Hicks, Lucas Hicks, Travis Hicks, Dylan Hickson and Cooper Hickson; sisters, Marjorie Pearcy of Frankfort and Virginia Bowen and husband, Jim, of Thorntown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Stephens; and a sister, Betty Jean Stephens.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Dover Cemetery in Dover.
Memorials may be directed to Boone County Senior Services, 515 Crown Pointe Dr., Lebanon, IN 46052.

Mr. Fred Lewis Stephens, 84, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. He was born in Lebanon on Sept. 24, 1932, a son of the now late Faye R. and Helen L (Isenhower) Stephens.
Fred was a 1952 graduate of Dover High School, where he was an outstanding high school basketball player.
On June 7, 1953, he was married to Barbara Joan Thrasher in Thorntown. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2016.
Fred had worked at Deluxe Check Printers for over 25 years and enjoyed being on the company's sports team. Prior to that, he had a route bringing raw dairy product from the farm to Polk Dairy in Indianapolis. He always had members of the community riding along with him on his milk route.
Fred also spent many years coaching little league teams in Dover. He was a devoted and proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly.
Fred was member of the Dover Christian Church.
Survivors include children, Cindy Hickson and husband, Chuck, of Lebanon, and Frank Stephens and spouse, Sam Simmons, of Cape Coral, Fla.; grandchildren, Wesley Hickson and wife, Amy, of Frankfort, Zachery Hickson and wife, Kristy - Gallatin, of Tennessee, and Brittany Hicks and husband, Bryant, of Lebanon; great-grandchildren, Curtis Hicks, Lucas Hicks, Travis Hicks, Dylan Hickson and Cooper Hickson; sisters, Marjorie Pearcy of Frankfort and Virginia Bowen and husband, Jim, of Thorntown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Stephens; and a sister, Betty Jean Stephens.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Dover Cemetery in Dover.
