Rock Musician. He was the singer, guitarist and chief songwriter of the highly successful and popular rock group “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers”, as well as a member of the all-star group rock group “The Traveling Wilburys”. He and his band debuted their first self-titled record in 1976, and over the next four decades would go on to chart with several hit rock songs, including "American Girl", "Free Fallin'", "Breakdown", "Listen to Her Heart" and more. Tom Petty released 13 albums with the Heartbreakers, among them 'Damn The Torpedos' (1979), 'Hard Promises' (1981), 'Long After Dark' (1982), 'Into the Great Wide Open' (1991), 'Echo' (1999) and 'Hypnotic Eye' (2014), as well as three solo albums- 'Full Moon Fever' (1989), 'Wildflowers' (1994) and 'Highway Companion' (2006). In the 1980s he was part of supergroup the Traveling Wilburys with rock music icons Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne. He won three Grammy Awards out of 18 nominations, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
