Janet Elaine Craig, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 1, 2017, at University Park Nursing and Rehab.

Janet was born January 31, 1937, in Indianola, Iowa, to Earl and Erma (Forman) Douglas. She loved her family and treasured time spent with them; her grandchildren were her life. Janet had boundless energy and she enjoyed shopping, searching for treasures at flea markets, cooking and baking. She worked for Knox Café for 25 years. After they closed, she went to work for Iowa Methodist Hospital. She worked in many departments over her 26 year career, retiring in 2010 as a Patient Service Aide.

She is survived by her children, Shelly (William) Sutton, Debbie (Francis) McWilliams, Patti (Joe) Ford, Terry Silliman, Stephen Silliman and Diana Molloy; brother, Dean Douglas; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Craig and her parents, Earl Douglas and Erma Dolph.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Mitchellville Cemetery after the services.
