Robert Duane Marley, 75, of Pocatello, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon after a valiant battle with numerous strokes. Family and friends surrounded him.

He was born January 10th, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Heber Duane Marley and Dorothy Marie Eichelberger. They later divorced. His father later married Alta Faye White who raised Bob as her own.

Bob graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1960. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completion of his service he served a 2-year full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was assigned to the South West British Mission. He returned to Idaho and met the love of his life, Linda Williams. They were married on July 9th, 1966 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He attended Idaho State University School of Technology and graduated from the first Law Enforcement program. He was elected as the College of Technology student body president. He was always proud that he was a member of the I.S.U student senate that voted to build the mini-dome (Holt Arena). After graduation he was a police officer in Las Vegas, Nevada and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Bob then enlisted in the United States Army a second time. Upon moving back to Pocatello, he spent 30 years with the Union Pacific railroad as an engineer until his retirement.

Bob’s hobbies included shooting, maintaining a beautiful lawn, and escaping the winter in Quartzsite, Arizona. Bob and Linda loved to travel. Their adventures included Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and various destinations throughout the United States. Bob loved to camp both in a tent and later in a 5th Wheel, especially in the Teton area.

Bob was a member of the LDS Church. He served in various positions within the wards he lived in. Bob supported the girls camp program and taught many girls how to chop wood. He served two service missions with Linda. He was a high priest in the Mountain Park Ward at the time of his death.
