Sandra "Sandy" Steele, 72, of Amboy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, with family by her side.

Born in Glenn Falls to Harold and Jane Nichols, Sandy graduated from ESM High School. She was active in 4-H for over 15 years and she was a member of APW Board of Education for 10 years. Sandy attended Oswego College where she received her Master's Degree in Education. She then relocated to Montana in 1997 and retired from Montana State Youth Correctional Facility, where she worked as a teacher and corrections officer, before moving back to New York to be closer to family. Sandy was an avid outdoors woman who enjoyed camping and hiking. She also loved to read, SU Basketball, and the NFL.

Sandy is predeceased by her father; sisters Karren Nichols and Denise Sierra; and brother Ransom Nichols. She is survived by her children Karren Rector, Myrna Stone, Andrew Steele, Heather Steele, Maggie Ocmand, Gonzo Steele, and Jamie Steele; mother Jane Nichols; sister Doris Nichols; many grandchildren; and loving dog Valentine.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20th, at 12:00, at Cleveland United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to the family to help cover medical and funeral costs c/o Heather Steele, PO Box 502, Camden, NY 13316.
