MAGUIRE Dorothy M. Maguire, age 85, a lifelong resident of Milford, passed away on September 9, 2011 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born on December 6, 1925 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Allen B. and Agnes Kreps Lightle. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Maguire. Dorothy worked for many years as a secretary for the Housatonic Girl Scout Council in Bridgeport, but was most proud of being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Milford Senior Center and also the West Shore Seniors for which she served as secretary for several years. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking, reading a good book, bird watching, talking over a hot cup of tea and rooting for "her girls," the UConn women's basketball team. Dorothy is survived by her two dearly loved children, Thomas A. Maguire and his wife, Patricia of Milford and Janet M. Shanley and her husband, Thomas of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Thomas J., Michael and Erin Maguire, and Kelly and Bridget Shanley; and several nieces and nephews. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St, Milford, CT 06460 followed by a funeral procession to St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Avenue, Milford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at King's Highway Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Cody-White Funeral Home.
