Mr. Russell 'Bud' Burnett, age 82, of Grayson, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Friday evening, August 18, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky, with his loving family at his bedside.
He was born October 17, 1934, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Willie and Ruby Davis Burnett.
Bud was a member of the Carter Christian Holiness Church in Carter City where he pastored for the past 16 years, and previously pastored at Trace Fork Christian Holiness Church for 13 years. Bud proudly served our country in the United States Army and was retired from the Grayson REA after 12 years of service. He was a member of the Local Union # 317 and enjoyed going to church, gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Khloe Burnett and Karter Burnett; one brother, Carl Elwood Burnett; and one sister, Maxine Mullins.
Bud is survived by his wife of 57 years, Allie Fern McGinnis Burnett; one son, Paul 'P.R.' Burnett of Grayson, Kentucky; one daughter, Peggy Skaggs (Bobby) of Grayson, Kentucky; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Burnett (Betty) of Westwood, Kentucky, and Everett Burnett (Sue) of Grayson, Kentucky; and one sister, Patsy Back (Luke) of Grayson, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members, church family, and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky with Brother Jerry Jordan and Brother Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnett Cemetery on Tygarts Creek Road in Grayson, Kentucky.
