In Memory of Thomas King, whose burial site is currently unknown, his last residence was on his property in Louisa Co VA.

Thomas was the son of unknown parents, some have speculated he was born to William Alfred & Sophia E [Burgess] King of Stafford Co VA, or possibly a Peter King, neither proven.

He was married 2 or 3 times, Sarah [?] was his first wife, Tillah White his second, and some believe he also married a Sarah Harrison, the first two marriages can be proven through some of his documentations, to my knowledge.

Sarah [?] was mentioned in a 1751 deed:
Thomas' first wife was named Sarah, based on the following land deed recorded in 1751 when Thomas was 37years of age:
Louisa County, Virginia Deed Book A and B, 1742-1759.
Abstracted and Compiled by Rosalie Edith Davis. Bellevue, Washington 1976. page 69:
"p.444-445. 16 Oct. 1751 Thomas King of St. Martin's Par., Louisa Co., Planter, and Sarah, his wife...

Known Children of Thomas and Sarah:
Sackville, William, Thomas Jr, & Elisha King.

Known Children of Thomas & Tillah White:
John, Phillip, Margaret, Walter, Catherine, Martha, Benjamin, Elizabeth King.

It is not known to me if the said, third marriage, had any children.

The following deed abstract named Thomas's children:

"Deed Book I, Page 637 28 Dec 1798 Sackville King & Ann (wife), William King & Polly (wife), Thomas King, Elisha King & Judith (wife), John King & Sarah (wife), Phillip King & Nancy (wife), Margaret Telford & John (husband) Walter King & Nancy (wife), Catherine King, Martha King, Elizabeth King of Louisa of the one part and Benjamin King of the other part, for 50 for 263 acres on both sides of Pamunkey River and joining land of James Winston, George Haywood on one side of the river, and John Ambler and John Powell on the other side..."

Thomas's 2nd wife, Tillah White, was estimated to have been born about 1739 Nominy Westmoreland Co VA?, and the marriage to Thomas about 1757, in Louisa Co VA, apparently, estimated from the birth of her first child with Thomas, John King. Only Tillah's father is known, John White born about 1688?, died by 1758, in Louisa Co VA, there is some of his documentations that list a daughter Tillah White. As there were several John White's in this area of Louisa Co VA, and two known, one married to a Katherine and one to a Catherine, has caused much confusion, as these were different women.

The following is a document from Louisa Co VA that gives support to Tillah White's family, this is an abstract, and I have not seen the original, it appears to have been edited by a descendant, but does give us some information this may be useful. Note it is dated 1758, and same year we estimate that Tillah married Thomas King:

"A devise in Louisa County dated July 6, 1758, by John White, late of St. Paul's Parish, Hanover County, names six of his children as well as their mother Catherine Braine...Edith, Elisha, William, Tillah, Helena Maria, and Martha..."

It is speculated that other children were not mentioned, from Parish records, and that their mother had remarried to a Robert Braine. This also tells us that John White was deceased by 1758. Thus, if this devise is correct, Tillah's mother may have been a Catherine, and we still do not know her maiden name. And Tillah married to Thomas King by 1758, about the same year her father died. Also, note that John King, son of Thomas & Tillah, was born 12 Jan 1758 Louisa Co VA, thus, John White probably died in 1757.

We can surmise that Thomas King was married at least twice, first to a Sarah [?], and second, to Tillah White, who is estimated to have died in 1768, year of her last child Elizabeth. As Thomas King died in 1798, it is likely, he remarried to the said, Sarah Harrison. Thomas and Sarah would have had 30 years of possible marriage, and I am sure with young children in 1768, as a farmer, would have remarried. It is not known, to me, if they had children themselves.

It is possible that some of the younger children of Tillah's, later in life assumed Sarah Harrison was their mother, not knowing about Tillah, this may be why we see conflicting information about Tillah vs Sarah, from descendants.
