Donna Lou Smith Spencer entered her heavenly home on Friday, September 29, 2017. A kind, loving, and devoted gentle spirit, she was a believer in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Donna Lou was born in Joplin, MO on July 27, 1933, the only child of Arthur P. & Leta {Davidson} Smith of Pineville, MO. She graduated from Bentonville High School in Bentonville, AR where she was homecoming queen and Rodeo Queen of the Ozarks.

She was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, MO and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR where she earned her degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

On June 5, 1955, she married Edward E. Spencer in Cassville, MO, a union that spanned 62 years.

Donna Lou devoted her life to her family and the many young students who were fortunate to be in her classroom. She was a highly respected and often requested classroom teacher in the Cassville and Mt. Vernon, MO public school systems for over 30 years.

Donna Lou is survived by her beloved husband Edward E. Spencer of Mt. Vernon, MO; her sons, Brian A. Spencer of Farmington, AR and Scott E. Spencer and wife Gale of Poplar Bluff, MO; and her granddaughters, Whitney Spencer Arthur and husband Eric of Fayettville, AR and Caroline Spencer Robbins and husband Jay of Little Rock, AR.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, MO. Reverend David Nordyke conducted the services. Burial at the Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pineville Cemetery in memory of Donna Lou.
