Daniel Bartlett Hicks, 68, of Fripp Island, SC, entered into eternal rest due to a brief terminal illness on September 19, 2017.

He was born July 11, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late John and Josephine Hicks.

He is survived by his wife Nickie Hicks, daughters Stacy Andrews and her husband Kelly Andrews, Courtney Hicks, Rachel Duke, sister Cynthia VanBrackle, grandchildren Tyler Schiavo, Brady Andrews, Isaiah Delaney, Seth Andrews, Gavyn Duke, Trystan Duke, Ilias Delaney, Braxtyn Duke, sister in law Linda Key, brother in law Mike Key, niece Sierra Metcalf, nephew Dakota Key, great niece Trinity Key, goddaughter Xidan Zhang, and Aunt Billie Knoll. He will also be remembered by longtime friends Paul and Pat Cotter, Albert Schacke, Harriet Austin, the McMillian family, the Labrosse family, and his Elavon work family.

was a devoted Methodist who loved reading scripture, music, sports, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife admiring the beauty and peace of God’s Creations. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and always having a great story to share. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama where he attended on a boxing scholarship. He later earned his MBA from Duke University. Dan enjoyed a long career as a financial executive most notably with Maremont/Arvin, Tulsa Dental, and Elavon/US Bank where he retired as a Senior Vice President.

In lieu of a formal funeral it was Dan’s wish that he be remembered with a Celebration of Life. Family, friends, and those who were touched by his life are invited to honor him on October 21, 2017, from 2-6 pm at the Lily Barn 1116 Carrs Creek Rd, Townsend, TN 37882. Food and beverage will be provided.

Memorial donations may be made to Hope for Warriors 8003 Forbes Place, Suite 201 Springfield, VA 22151 in his name.
