NANCY CAROL (LAYMAN) SPEER
SLIPPERY ROCK, PA - Nancy Carol Speer of Slipery Rock, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at VNA Hospice in Butler, PA. She was 73 year young.

Born on June 3, 19434, in Amarillo, TX, she was the daughter of the late Owen L. Laymon and Mary L. (Tharp) Laymon.

Immediately after graduating from Utica High School (Ohio) in 1962, she got a job there as a receptionist. She then worked at Cooper's, where she met her husband, married on May 23, 1975 and later they moved to Pennsylvania in 1982. She retired from Slippery Rock University in June 2004.

Nancy was a big sports fan and an animal lover. She was a huge Pittsburgh Pirates fan, but never for her roots, watching any game that The Ohio State Buckeyes televised. She loved the company of her two cats but also liked watching hummingbirds and various other birds on her feeders.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth W. Speer; son, Jeffrey A. Speer and his wife, Bethany (Pokrant) of Harrisville, PA and her sister, Diana Woods of Howard, OH.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Keith L. Laymon (FAG #143890012) and Fred L. Laymon.
