MITCHELL - Henry D. "Sonny" Leatherman, 67, Mitchell, passed away at 11:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at his residence.
Born February 10, 1940, in Mitchell, he was the son of Carl and Lucille (Hopkins) Leatherman. He married Elsie Grissom March 9, 1965, and she preceded him in death February 21, 1989.
He retired from Paoli Inc.
Surviving are a son, Mark Leatherman and his wife, Maxine, Mitchell; a daughter, Anna Leatherman, Mitchell; stepdaughter, Louise Davis, Mitchell; stepson, Bernard Tolbert, Mitchell; 7 brothers, Gerald Leatherman, Mitchell,
Jerry Leatherman, Orleans, Jack Leatherman, Mitchell, Don Leatherman, Williams, Dan Leatherman, Tunnelton, Tony Leatherman, Mitchell, and Terry Leatherman, Paoli; 6 sisters, Wanda Holt, Mitchell, Carolyn Terrell, Tunnelton, Judy Jones, Mitchell, Joyce Babcock, Paoli, Vickie Pridemore, Mitchell, Sheila Leatherman, Mitchell, six grandchildren, Troy, Kayla, Sarah, Zachary, Blaine, and Shaina; 6 step grandchildren, Annie, Kayla, J. T., Linda, Dawn, and Ray; and 6 step great grandchildren.
His parents; wife; brothers, Jim, Herald, and Ricky Leatherman; and sister, Angela Leatherman, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
