Professional Basketball Coach. Born Frank Alan Hamblen II, he served as the head coach for the National Basketball Association's Milwaukee Bucks (1991-1992) and Los Angeles Lakers (2004-2005). After starring for Garfield High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, he played basketball collegiately at Syracuse University where he served as team captain as a senior. He went into coaching after graduating and served as an assistant coach for three NBA teams (San Diego/Houston Rockets, Kansas City/Sacramento Kings, and Milwaukee Bucks) and one ABA team (Denver Rockets/Nuggets) until being named the interim head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 1991-1992 season. He served for part of one season before being let go. He later served as an assistant for both the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers before taking over as the head coach of the Lakers briefly during the 2004-2005 season. He remained with the Lakers until head coach Phil Jackson retired after the 2010-2011 season. He was a part of seven NBA championship teams while serving as an assistant with the Bulls and Lakers. He was later inducted into the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame.
