Jean and her husband Marty were killed in a car accident in Arkansas. Preceded in death by their son Morgan in December 2008.

Services for Jean Lawrence, 48, and Morgan "Marty" Lawrence, 53, of Flint, will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Green Acres Baptist Church Worship Center with Ryan Tomlin, Kris Shustella and Dr. David O. Dykes officiating.
Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery in Flint under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Jean was born March 15, 1969 in Tyler to James Paul Cummings and Ann Morehead Cummings. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Tyler Junior College. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and home schooling her son James. She loved the football team and mothered them all. Cooking and gardening were her passions. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Tyler.
Captain Morgan "Marty" Lloyd Lawrence was born February 5, 1964 in Dallas to Hoyt and Fay Greer Lawrence. He graduated from Mabank High School and was also a member of Southside Baptist Church in Tyler.
Captain Lawrence began his career with the Tyler Fire Department in 1993 and promoted up through the ranks of Firefighter, Driver/Engineer (2004), and Captain (2008). He served as the Interim Assistant Fire Chief from August 2016 – April 2017. During his time with the department, he obtained multiple awards and certifications, including two Chief's Merit Awards, Fire Instructor and Fire Officer I. He was also actively involved throughout the organization, graduating from the City's Leadership Academy in 2014 and serving as a certified Black Belt in the Lean Six Sigma Program.
Jean and Marty were preceded in death by Marty's parents, Hoyt and Faye Lawrence; their son, Andy Lawrence; their niece Amanda Lawrence and their dogs, Daisy and Ziggie.
They are survived by their loving family including Jean's parents, James and Ann Cummings; their children, James Lawrence, Alex Williamson, Laura Lawrence; sister/sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paula and Bill Henderson; brother/brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Diana Lawrence; and nieces, Sarah Lawrence and Heather Lawrence, as well as seven grandchildren. They are also survived by their cat, Boo Bear and dog, Lexie.
Coach Marty Lawrence spearheaded the EXEL Athletic program since its inception in 2015, serving in a variety of capacities including President of the Board, Athletic Director, and Head Coach of the football team.
