On August 27,1988, she married Robert "Bob" Arnold in Dodge City, KS celebrating 29 years together.
She was a longtime resident of Dodge City,Kansas before moving to Wellington,Kansas in June of 2006. She had a long successful career in the restaurant industry. She managed the Hitch N Post Truck Stop in Dodge City, Kansas for many years. She left it with many of her employees and coworkers to venture out on her own to open a family run restaurant formerly known as the Gunsmoke Restaurant. Suzie was a passionate, devoted follower of Christ. Upon retirement Suzie enjoyed bringing comfort to others by sending cards, volunteering for Hospice and Birthline and orgainizing funeral dinners. One of her greatest joys was surrounding herself with her large and loving family. She enjoyed cooking for the holiday gatherings which always included her world class fried chicken and homemade potato salad.
Survivors include her husband, Bob of Wellington, Ks.; her children: Gloria (Ken)Hamilton of Sun City, California; Todd (Joan) Bertsch of Woodstock,Illinois; Kathy (Mark) Cooksey of Garden City, KS.; Mandi(Jamey) Zimmerman of Wellington,KS.; former son-in-law, Earl Martin of Rancho Cucamongo, Calfornia; nephew, Mark (Velma) Carlson and family of Hutchinson, KS.; grandchildren: Shane, Camille, Abram, Cassie, Justin, Toni, Brionna and Taylor; great-grandchildren: Jazmyn, Isaac, Quinten, Bryce, Kaylee, Colton, Hunter and Adra. Bob's children: Tammy Denison of Jetmore,KS.; Todd (Lisa) Arnold of Wellington, Colorado; Sharon Kiehl of Canadian, Texas and Billy (Chantel) Arnold of Hays, KS.; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert John Sanford and sister, Patricia June Carlson.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 3,2017 at Wellington Free Will Baptist Church, Wellington,KS. with internment at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington,KS.
A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory to the Wellington Free Will Baptist Church and Kindred Hospice.
