Johnny Lynn Burns, 65, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed from this life Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born to the late John Wesley and Rubye Burns in Walnut Ridge on Nov. 4, 1951. Johnny lived his entire life in the Jonesboro area.

He was a 1969 Westside High School graduate and then graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor of arts in English. Upon retiring from the Social Security Administration, Johnny enjoyed substitute teaching at Hoxie High School. Throughout Johnny's life he was very interested in history and archaeology. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Burns, and brother-in-law, Lawrence Faulkner.

Johnny is survived by his daughter, Misti (Brent) Weaver of Jonesboro; son, Erin (Stacey) Burns of Maumelle; a sister, Carolyn Faulkner of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Gage Weaver, Brentlee Weaver and Callie Weaver, all of Jonesboro, Carsyn Burns, Emma Burns and Drew Burns, all of Maumelle; four nephews, Randy Myers, Tristan Myers, Dakotah Burns and Miche Burns; and a niece, Shannon Burns.

A memorial service was held at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial was private.
