Weston (Mulvaney), Susan Kay

Died on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. She was 69.

Sue was born on September 11, 1948, in Jackson, the second of five children born to Robert and Arda June (Brown) Mulvaney. She grew up in Jackson and attended St. John Schools until her junior year of high school, when the family moved to Concord, Michigan. She graduated from Concord High School in 1966 and was her class secretary. Sue attended Central Michigan University for three years. She was married to Larry D. Weston of Concord from 1971 to 1995. They made their home in Horton, Michigan, where they raised four children. She worked as a clerk at Foote Hospital in Jackson for several years, and actively supported her children in church youth group, Girl Scouts, Little League, and music lessons.

In 1995, Sue moved back to Jackson. She owned a day care center with her sister, and worked at several child care centers. She also worked as a pharmacy technician at Rite Aid Pharmacy on Wisner Street and at Foote Hospital. Sue additionally worked at a several area schools with special education students as a teacher’s assistant.

Sue had battled numerous health problems for many years but continued to live independently until shortly before her death. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing Scrabble with her sister Trudy, being with her grandchildren, having lunch with friends, and walking her dog, Winston. She was a parishioner at Queen of the Miraculous Medal in Jackson.

She is survived by four children, daughters Jessie and Adie Weston of Jackson, and sons Jerry Weston of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Danny (Dawn) Weston of Reading, Michigan; four grandchildren, Payton and Chloe Weston of Reading, and Lily and Tyler Weston of Sherbrooke; four siblings, Bobbie Bryant, John (Debbie) Mulvaney, Trudy Weston, and Bill (Susie) Mulvaney, all of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

According to Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church in Jackson on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:30 AM with Fr. Peter Lawrence officiating. Private interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cascades Area Humane Society, or to the charity of choice.
