Widow of Andrew Jackson Andrews died at her home in the Pan American building on Court St. from infirmities of age. She had been in failing health for about a month. Born in Sheldon, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Elijah Bassett. Her marriage to Mr. Andrews took place in Warsaw 11/15/1852 and in 1860 they moved to Batavia. Mr. Andrews was known for many years as a liveryman. He built the brick livery stables in the rear of Hotel Richmond which at present are conducted by his son, C. Fred Andrews. For many years he conducted the old St. James Hotel on the site of the Richmond in partnership with A.G. Collers and he also conducted a livery business at the same time in the stables which stood on the site of the Pan American Building. He died 4/25/1896 at his home on Ellicott St., which is now the Moose home. Mrs. Andrews is survived by 2 other sons, besides C. Fred Andrews, Wm. J. Andrews of Thomasville, GA - the famous horseman who was here the forepart of the present month on a visit and A. Roland Andrews, superintendant of the Mathews-Northrup printing works in Buffalo; a daughter, Miss Bertha E. Burland of Oneida, aged 90 and Miss Ellen Bassett of Fairport, aged 81. Member of St. James Episcopal Church.
