Darrell was born April 25, 1935, in Paragould, Ark., the son of James Virgil Long and wife Jewel. He was the owner of a printing business. Darrell was wed to Janice Cox and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. He was baptized in the Church of Christ. Darrell was an avid golfer, a member of the Lakeview Estates bowling league, enjoyed singing with the Melodears and card playing with friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Darrell is survived by his beloved wife, Jan Long, Warrenton; one son, Stephen (Sonja) Long, St. Louis; one daughter, Laura (Bruce) McDaniel, Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Leland (Pat) Long, Cookeville, Tenn.; one sister, Dean Martin, Ventura, Calif.; four grandsons, David, Geoff, Kyle and Brendan; three granddaughters, Rachel, Kristen and Carrie; and two great-granddaughters, Kindra and Anika.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Virgil Long; mother, Jewel Long; one brother, Glenn Long; and one sister, Dorothy Long.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Estates Clubhouse, 28100 Oak Tree Circle, Warrenton.
Interment will be private.
