Obituary dated June 2, 1899 - Sidney Journal (Sidney, Ohio):

"David Shaffner died at the home of his son, Thomas Shaffner, in Perry township, Sunday. He was born in Harrisburg. Pennsylvania, December 22, 1814, and married Elizabeth Shaffer, October 2, 1850 at Eaton, Preble County, Ohio.

He was the father of eight boys and two girls, the latter and his wife dying many years ago. In 1880 he married Elizabeth Wilson, who survives him."


*O. B. Taylor funeral records list place of burial "S.E. Of Cedar Point". Tawawa United Brethren Cemetery is located 1 1/2 miles S.E. of Cedar Point. The date of burial May 30, 1899. His body wasn't moved to Cedar Point in 1964 when most of the bodies were re-interred.
