She lived the most amazing life. Bettie was born in Clinton, IN, July 12, 1921, daughter of Bertha and Jack Goldfarb. For most of her life, Bettie resided in Louisville, KY. However, for the last 20 years, she has spent winters in Naples, FL making many new friends and acquaintances.
She loved golf, which she learned as a teenager. She played golf for more than 80 years. Even in her 90's, she had a beautiful swing and a competitive spirit.
Bettie was an honorary member of the Louisville Falls City and Louisville District Golf Associations.
Beyond her golf, Bettie was known for her style and grace, as well as her elegance and humor. She was ever a lady, who built and maintained strong and lasting friendships. She had stayed close with friends as far back as her high school days at the Kentucky Home School and college at the University of Wisconsin.
Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Watson, to whom she was married 25 years.
She is survived by her five children: David Medalie of Scottsdale, AZ, Martha Raymer of Simpsonville, KY, Laurie Hatfield of Virginia Beach, VA, Bob Watson of Ambler, PA, and Mike Watson of Louisville.
Bettie doted on her 13 grandchildren and her 11 great-grandchildren. Everyone had gathered together from all parts of the country to celebrate her recent 92nd birthday. The entire family will greatly miss their beloved Grandma Bettie.
At this time, graveside services are being arranged in Louisville for the immediate family members only.
In lieu of flowers, and as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Animal Care Society.
