Army Sgt. Woodcock was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Woodcock died in Ad Dawr, of wounds suffered from a building explosion while on combat patrol. Daniel graduated from Glennallen High School where he was active in the thespian group and acted in many of their productions. He joined the Army in July 2000 and the 82nd Airborne in January 2001. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2003 and began his second tour in Iraq in the fall of 2006. Daniel was an outstanding infantry team leader who continually put the welfare of his troopers before his own. His decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. First and foremost, Daniel was a family man. He called home early Christmas morning just so he could hear his children open their gifts. He leaves behind his wife, Alida, a son and daughter.
