Rosemary Wilson Young-Tyler

Rosemary Wilson Young-Tyler was born May 2, 1942 to Vera T. Jones-Wilson and Leamon Wilson Sr. Born in Columbus, Texas

She was the only girl along with four brothers Charles, Sammie Leon, Leamon, Jr., and Lucious.

She attended the public schools of Colorado County. While in high school, Rosemary was voted homecoming queen and also attended St. Paul United Methodist Church during those years.

At the age of 26, Rosemary moved to California to join her brother and other family members. She worked at Charles Drew Health Center for nearly 30 years, mainly as a billing supervisor. While working there, she developed a passion for working hard and eating good as she and., her coworkers would go to different restaurants almost every day, especially on payday.

Rosemary, affectionately known as "sister, momma, and auntie," had an impact on those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.

Rosemary Young-Tyler passed away at Memorial Herman in Katy Aug. 31, 2017

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; brothers Sammie Leon Wilson and Charles Wilson, Sr.; and two former husbands, George Matthew Young and Carl Tyler Sr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sons, Byron Dean Young, and Lucien Darrell Wilson, both from California; granddaughters Brittney and Shanee; brothers Leamon Wilson, Jr. and Lucious Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. James Bryant officiating.

Interment followed at Willing Workers Cemetery in Columbus.

Pallbearers were Bobbie Person, Michael Scott, Jay Vinson, Morian Walker, and Thomas Whitehead.

Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Johnson, Robert Jones, Ben Vinson, Robertandue Vinson, Wayne Vinson, Charles Wilson Jr., Leamon Wilson, Jr., Lucien D. Wilson, Lucious Wilson, and Byron Dean Young.
