Frances Stegall Beard, 88, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009. Those who knew her will miss her contagious enthusiasm for life, her dedication to her family and her love of traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Louise Stegall; husbands, Joseph Rogers and Silas "Buddy" Beard; and infant son, Kenneth Beard. Frances is survived by her sister, Sebelle (Ralph) Thomas; children, Don (Judy) Beard, Gadsden, and Charlotte (Nick) Brown; grandchildren, Beth (Kyle) Stokes, Cindy (Paul) Bishop and Deborah Morgan, all of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Jake Morgan, Jessica Morgan and Ryan Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Visitation in Birmingham will be held at the home of Nick Brown, 1768 Deo Dara Drive, Hoover, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Fifth and Walnut streets, Gadsden. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Edgewater Church, Rainbow City, or First Baptist Church, Gadsden, or to any charity of your choosing.
