Mr. Kenneth Earl Shipman Sr. 75, resident of the Kiln, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Shipman was born on September 16, 1942, to the late Donald and Cordie Shipman. He was an 18 wheeler driver for over 60 years. Throughout his lifetime career, he drove well over 6 million miles accident-free. When he was not on the road, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Cordie Shipman; sons Donald Shipman, Robert Shipman, Michael R. Shipman, and Kenneth D. Shipman; daughter Barbara J Shipman and sister, Veda Kelly.
Mr. Shipman is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Carver Shipman; children; Kenneth Shipman, Jr., Edward Shipman, and Carol Davis; sister, Carlene Jones, and her husband Wilton of Whiteville, North Carolina; brother in law Billy Kelly of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kenneth "Scooter" Shipman, III and Kelsi Shipman, and a host of additional grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11-1 pm on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Catahoula Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be held at the church at 1 pm with inurnment following in the church cemetery. A reception at the Shipman residence will follow the services.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St Joseph Hospice and their team of professionals.
