Charles David Niemeyer was born in Sanger, California, and went home to be with his Lord after a long battle with myasthemia gravis.

Dave was a 1957 graduate of Sanger High School.

He was employed for 30 years with the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (formerly Atchinson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway) and for eight years with the City of Clovis.

Dave was an avid golfer and reader, and he enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to southern gospel music, and teaching the Seekers Sunday School class at Peoples Church.

Since his retirement in 1999, Dave and Betty covered many miles in their RV, and he was known for the great trips he organized for family and friends who traveled with them all over the United States. He will be fondly remembered for his compassionate spirit and his entertaining sense of humor.

The Niemeyer family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the Critical Care Unit staff of Kaiser Permanente in Fresno for caring for Dave during the last few weeks of his life here on earth.

He is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 46 years; his daughter, Ginger Niemeyer of Clovis; his daughter, Carla Smith and her husband Gary of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his parents, Charles (C. Gee) and Oneille Niemeyer of Sanger; his sister, Sue Ahoff and her husband Ken of Selma; his brother, LT Patrick Niemeyer, CHC, USN and his wife Cindy of San Diego; along with a host of nieces and nephews, family, and friends.

Visitation will be held Clovis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 9:00 a.m.

A Memorial Service will be held at Peoples Church on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 10:00 a.m.

Remembrances may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, 5675 Telegraph Rd., Ste. 230, Los Angeles, CA 90040 or to Peoples Church.
