She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy John Pearson in 1999.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Neman Cemetery (at Chana Creek Primitive Baptist).
The family will receive friends at Gassett Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to services.
She is survived by two daughters, sister, five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Jean Pearson was a devoted wife, mother, and educator. She was a 1961 graduate of Auburn University. Her professional career as a teacher spanned over 37 years. She taught first grade at Richville, Rockford and Eclectic Elementary Schools for 20 years. The last 17 years of her educational career, she was the librarian at the Eclectic Elementary School. She was involved in many community activities. She was an active member in the Eclectic Garden Club, Eclectic Girls Club, and the Delta Kappa Gama. She served as President of the Eclectic Community Library. She enjoyed participating in the Eclectic Cotton Festival and preparing fair exhibits for the Eclectic Homemakers Club. She was also on the committee that helped get the Panther Palace playground for the town of Eclectic. Mrs. Pearson's hobbies included having beautiful flowers around her home especially in the back yard, and attending Auburn University football games. She was a season ticket holder for 35 years. She also enjoyed collecting antiques from yard sales and estate sales. She operated her own antique shop, Little House Antiques, in Eclectic for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially entertaining her grandchildren. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church for over 60 years.
