Delores was born to Raymond and Leona Hash Whitehead. She grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany Union High School in 1966. Following graduation, she enrolled in Merritt-Davis Business College in Salem and received a degree as a medical secretary. She was working as an office secretary for the Oregon Parks division in 1968 when she met her future husband of 47 loving years, David Hamilton. After dating for a year, they became engaged and eventually eloped and married in Reno on June 16th, 1970. They honeymooned a year later in Hawai'i. While living in Portland, they adopted their first child, a son in 1975. In 1978 the young family moved to Newberg and then adopted their second child, a daughter in 1980.

Delores dedicated herself to raising her children and supporting her family, creating a warm and loving household. She had a long and successful career working as a teacher's aide for the Newberg School district for 15 years. After retirement, she and David enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling frequently to the Oregon Coast and to Arizona. She cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren at home, celebrating birthdays and family events, especially Christmas morning.

Delores will be profoundly missed by her family and friends, whom she touched so greatly with her life, love and kindness. We will especially miss her smile and laughter. She is survived by her husband David, son Jim, daughter Ruth, daughter in-law Keli and son-in-law Brent. She has 5 grandchildren, Sophia (17), Hannah (15), Bryson (14), Emily (12) and Kyler(4). We thank God for blessing us all with such a wonderful woman.
