Lottie Cook Harper, 94, of Vinton, passed away at her residence on Monday, March 21, 2005. She was the widow of Carl P. Harper, who died January 15, 1996. They were married on Christmas Day 1930. Mrs. Harper was a long time member of East End Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. She was Roanoke's Mother of the Year-Family Life 1973. She was responsible for naming "Ward Haven Retreat Center" for The Roanoke Valley Baptist Association. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Inez and Charles Flora, Kersey and Annette Harper, Ronnie and Joyce Harper, all of Roanoke, Sylvia and Gerald St. Clair of Vinton, Thomas and Dawn Harper of Salado, Texas, Larry and Dale Harper of Leesburg, Fla., Lena and James Farley of Anderson, S.C., Rev. Terry and Cheryl Harper, Scott Depot, W.Va., Vickie and Neil Milliken, Hampton, Va., and Rev. Mark Harper of Durham, N.C. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Vinton Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and funeral services will be conducted from there at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005. The Rev. Rick Harris and the Rev. Riley Jay Stewart will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to East End Baptist Church, 1030 Mecca Street, N.E., Roanoke, Va. 24012.
